Walking Backwards No More

Thank you to all who could make it Wednesday night (10-24)! The lasagna and garlic bread was spot on! Afterwards we all took a journey on foot to Dairy Queen - the only twist (no ice-cream pun intended) was that everyone was challenged to walk backwards to get there. It was very impressive to see many actually do it the whole way!

After ordering our ice cream and fountain drinks, we bunched up for our Bible study (yes, in Dairy Queen). We saw how the New Testament in several verses says Jesus wants to live IN us. We've heard that Jesus is risen, we've heard that He's in Heaven; we've heard He wants to be with us; but do we really understand what it is like to have Jesus live in us? 2 Corinthians 13:5, the apostle Paul asks, "Or do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is within you?" He then says in Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me." Paul considered his life to be worth crucifying so that Jesus can live in Him! And when we are ready to do the same, Jesus living in us will become our hope in glory according to Colossians 1:27!

This kind of reality can make all the difference in life. It can cause us to walk completely different. What may have felt awkward before and a little difficult (like walking backward), can become a much better reality, giving us better vision and giving us an even more enjoyable life experience. We walked back to church from Dairy Queen facing forward. It felt great. And hopefully we all caught a glimpse of what Jesus has in store for our future life with Him, within.
