Terrible Tennis!

Make-your-own pizza is always a hit (I ate two. Don't judge me.) What was harder to hit were the water balloons with our tennis rackets! Not easy at all! A little frustrating for sure. Some were left soggy and dripping, but smiling. Ruben and Caleb took home the prize for the most hits in a row without the balloon breaking. Guess how many times they hit it? 7. A perfect number, yes, but it's still not a lot, huh?! (It was a lot better than I could do!)

Our Bible study was all about how bad we all are at trying to lead our own lives. Often times it can leave us feeling like we're trying to play tennis with water balloons. But God has a better way for all of us - letting go and letting Him lead. In Psalm 46:10 God says, "Be still and know that I am God!" In Exodus 14:13-14, Standing by the Red Sea, Moses tells the people to "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the salvation the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

Jesus wants to lead your life. In John 15 He says He wants us to abide in Him, because without Him we can do nothing (verse 5). Psalm 23, the chapter of our new sermon series we are starting this week at the Medford church, starts by saying, "The Lord is my Shepherd..." Do I really want Him to be my Shepherd? When He speaks, am I ready to listen? Am I really a sheep, or am I playing more the part of a goat? These are all good questions to think about. I don't want to be a stubborn goat, but instead a sheep that is ready to listen to God's voice and follow Him no matter what.

Next week is Rogue Valley mall night! Hope to see you in the food court at 6:30 pm! Maybe we will meet at a park for an extra event this summer and use those tennis rackets for what they were truly meant for - tennis balls. Not sure I can actually hit those more than seven times either... Hmmm. Maybe I'll sneak some water balloons in, ya know, just for fun!
