Searching Together for Good
Pasta night is legit! Wow, what a meal! Thank you to Joyce, Kathy, Laura and Paula for delivering on the amazing food! Afterwards we grabbed our Easter baskets and searched together for tons of colored eggs filled with all kinds of goodies - things like Twix, Reece's, Sweet Tarts, and Hershey Kisses! Juliet, Zoe, and Caleb all came away with quite the haul. It's our second annual egg hunt, and I think we will keep it on the agenda for next year!
After searching for eggs we began searching the Scriptures for more understanding on the idea of church and community. Genesis 1:26 reminded us that in the very beginning, God, who Himself is a community of three, decided to create us and broaden His community. In Revelation 7:9 we saw that in Heaven there will be a community from every race, nation, tongue and people! God is calling us all to be a part of His "body" (1 Corinthians 12:27) and pull together into a community of love (Romans 12:10). It's not always easy to be among so many. Our natural inclination is to hesitate or even refuse to do it! But that's normal, because we all have sin in our lives, pulling at us to keep us separated. God is able, however, to help us bond with others in ways we could never have anticipated (2 Corinthians 13:11; Galatians 5:13; Ephesians 4:32)!
Next week is another bonding opportunity for Youth Group! We are going to Grants Pass together for the "Silver Ring Thing" annual tour event! It's a group of Christian teenagers that tour the country talking about abstinence from sex before marriage. It's excellent and worthwhile - please don't miss it! You can meet us at RVAA at 5:30 pm to leave at 5:45 pm in a van if you need a ride. Or you can meet us there. Address: 725 NE Dean Drive, Grants Pass, OR 97526.
