Belting Beach Balls and Loving to Learn

The food Thursday night was outrageously good! Thank you to our kitchen crew who made amazing quesadillas and nachos that everyone piled high on their plates.

Afterwards we meandered outside and gave some huge, inflated balls some punishment with the aluminum baseball bat. Two of them didn't survive, but we settled in with our trusty, older orange one that lasted through another furious round of beach-ball baseball. Jeremy smacked one so far it almost went on top of the church roof! Congratulations to him and all who participated and won!

We ended the evening with a crazy topic: "Loving to Learn." The school year has just started and one topic we probably aren't thrilled about is that of "learning." But having a teachable spirit can have a positive impact on our lives! We will be more likeable, not coming across as a no-it-all. Proverbs 15:12 says, “Conceited people do not like to be corrected; they never ask for advice from those who are wiser.” We will be smarter! Proverbs 15:32 says, “If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.” And we will have less conflict. Proverbs 13:10 says, “Pride only leads to arguments.” Hopefully by God's grace and power in our lives we can learn to really love learning. After all, Proverbs 12:1 makes it pretty plain: "Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. " The older I get, the more I realize how much I don't know! And I don't need to get any stupider! I need all the help I can get. How about you?!
